What is anime if not a terrible, tragic, and beautiful filter imposed on reality to make it more bittersweet and bearable? In these stories, there is no caricaturization, which abounds in western animation, but a hyperrealism of loneliness, joy, sadness, hope, and the best and worst decisions that humans make under these and the whole range of human emotions. There are some disgusting stories, there are others that bring tears, and one or two that may bring smiles and even a chuckle or an euphoria erection. But in the end, the certainty reigns that a fable universe —a fabuverse if you will— has come to fruition.
