With Tina the Baby Sea Turtle
Illustrated by Jessica Epstein
This book will be part of a series that will introduce the situation of other endangered species and what each of us can do about it. According to the Ocean Conservancy estimates that 11 million tons of plastic pieces plagues our beaches and oceans, posing all kinds of threats to wildlife. In this way, awareness is raised about the garbage and plastic that contaminate our beaches around the world. Specifically, the damage they cause to the young of sea turtles, who are born in nests on the shores of beaches. And how they are exposed to threats such as birds and the heat of the sun by having the garbage left by visitors to the beaches as an impediment, which could prevent them from returning to the sea.
In this story, Tina got stuck in a plastic cup that someone had carelessly left on the beach, but luckily, Ana and Rafael were there to help her. But on a future occasion, a baby sea turtle may not be so lucky and may get stuck in plastic, be grabbed by a bird, or dehydrate and die. Only by being sure that we don't leave anything on the beach when we leave, only the footprints of our feet, we can prevent this from happening. As Rafa and Ana, you can be an environmental superhero and help animals like Tina, making everyone around you responsible for cleaning the beaches before they leave.
